Florida Blanket Permit Movement Conditions and Restrictions

The Florida Blanket Permit is designed for the movement of oversized and overweight vehicles on state-maintained highways. Below are the key conditions and restrictions associated with this permit:

Movement Conditions

Time Restrictions

  • Movement is allowed only during daytime hours, defined as from one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.
  • Movement is prohibited when visibility is impaired due to smoke, fog, or rain, or when visibility is less than 1,000 feet.

Weekend and Holiday Restrictions

  • Movement is limited to one-half hour before sunrise until noon on Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Movement is prohibited all day on specific holidays, including New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and the days following Thanksgiving and Christmas. If these holidays fall on a weekend, the preceding Friday or the following Monday may also be observed as holidays

Route Compliance

  • Vehicles must adhere to the routes designated on the permit or approved routes specified in the multi-trip (blanket) permit attachments. Deviating from these routes can result in penalties Vehicle Specifications
  • Vehicles must meet specific axle requirements and cannot exceed the maximum width of 102 inches (or 96 inches on narrower travel lanes), maximum height of 13 feet 6 inches (or 14 feet for automobile transporters), and maximum lengths as defined by state regulations

Permit Validity: The blanket permit covers multiple trips for a period not exceeding 12 months. Each trip must still comply with the outlined conditions and restrictions

Enforcement: Violations of the permit conditions can lead to significant penalties, including fines for exceeding weight or size limits without a valid permit
