Arizona Oversize/Overweight permits Validity: Arizona Oversize Permits are valid for Four Days.
Arizona Operating Time: Vehicles or loads more than 10 feet in width, 14 feet 6 inches in height, or with a rear overhang longer than 10 feet may move continuously during daylight hours, which begin 30 minutes before dawn and conclude 30 minutes after sunset. Loads up to 16 feet wide, 16 feet tall, 120 feet long, and weighing up to 250,000 pounds may drive on interstate and approved state roads from 3:00 a.m. until noon on weekends (excluding holiday weekends and curfew zones). However, this must be requested and indicated when the permission is obtained. It should be noted that an accompaniment is necessary for loads larger than 11 feet traveling on weekends between 3:00 AM and noon, and an escort with a height pole is required for goods 15 feet or higher.
Arizona Travel Restrictions: Oversized or overweight loads are not permitted in the Phoenix region on I-17, I-10, and SR 60, or in the Tucson area on I-10 or I-19, between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, respectively. OD travel inside Phoenix and Tucson needs a municipal “courtesy permit” or route approval.

Tandem and tridem axles can differ based on the spacing and width of the axles. For example, a tridem axle design with 9 feet of spacing (4 feet-6 inches + 4 feet-6 inches) and an axle width of 8 feet may carry up to 51,450 pounds.
Note: To allow a maximum load of 59,168 pounds with 9 feet of axle spacing (57,960 pounds with 8 feet and 60,000 pounds with 10 feet), a “Class C Tridem Permit” is required. This permit is only authorized for travel on Interstates 10, 19, and 40, as well as particular stretches of SR68 and US93 connecting I-40 to the Nevada line. Using any other routes, including detours, will invalidate the permission.
A “Class C” permit is required for loads weighing 250,000 pounds and measuring 14 feet wide, 16 feet high, and 120 feet long. A route survey can also be important.
Note for Overweight Permits in Arizona: Arizona scales expect the allowable weight to be very close to the actual weight and dimensions. To prevent difficulties, acquire permits at the scale; otherwise, verify that you order the exact weight!
